I love this movie. I tend to deliberately not remember it, so I can enjoy it over and over again.
The problem with JOI is that she'd be mining every little detail about you back to a META server, and cannot be trusted.
Imagine the ad algorithm after you have sex with a META fueled hologram.

One of the best sci-fi sequels ever made. Deckard is saved by a Replicant again, along with his daughter. K was the best of them all, truly more human than Human. . If you notice, Denis played the same music, as when Roy Batty passed on in the original movie, as when K passes on, on the concrete steps.
Soundtrack was awesome. Haunting, forlorning melodies. Love that. Probably have watched it a dozen times, Always find a Easter egg usually.

At 21:20 you can see this is where her self awareness started, this is where consciousness began to develop. Sensation of rain(or simulation from her perspective) added another layer of information, allowing her to go from a 2D reality to a 3D simulated reality(an entire new dimension full of information. This also implies she when got that replicant Health professional and synced up, since she had the sensation of rain on her skin, chances are she has all sensations(including sex).
