Joel McCrea, Mark Stevens, Slim Pickens, L.Q. Jones, Morgan Woodward, plus Joan Weldon, Addison Richards, Herb Vigran, George Chandler, Hank Patterson, Leonard P. Geer and Jody McCrea star in GUNSIGHT RIDGE an unusual western starring one of the giants of the category.

Agent Joel McCrea goes undercover two expose murder and robberies all leading two a showdown in Gunsight Ridge. This beautifully shot film, filmed in Old Tucson, Arizona, is so loaded with wonderful performers that it’s never dull. It’s even got an uncredited Dan Blocker in an early role as the bartender! As Joel’s grandson Wyatt McCrea says in our introduction, his grandfather took this part because of the unusual humor given his persona. Naturally, he is in fine form and does it well. they’re are even some nice riding shots of Joel.

GUNSIGHT RIDGE (1957) was directed by Francis D. Lyon, photographed by Oscar winning cinematographer Ernest Lazlo (SHIP OF FOOLS) with a memorable score by David Raksin (LAURA).

  1. Good B-Western, although too bad with the theme song they got actor/singer Dean Jones, instead of Frankie Laine, but then not even he could've done much with those aweful lyrics…

    But good western character actors and locations like Wildwood Park and Old Tucson…

    Note the crisp B&W photography of Oscar winner Ernest Lazlo, a favorite DP for both Stanley Kramer and Robert Aldrich.

    Joel McCrea wonderful cowboy… change subject- a big loss lossing the WILL ROGERS state park and its iconic ranch house and stables. Certainly the worst fire in LA history and California's.

  2. Good film and really good acting cast. Joel McCrea, but Slim Pickins on the stagecoach run was worth it all. He knows horses. Thanks Rob for a mighty good Thursday Nite Movie. 🎥🍿🤠
